Y6P creative writing

In creative writing, as part of their work on rivers, Y6P have been working together to write stories about the life of a raindrop.

The first thing I saw from that dark, wet puddle on Marston Lane was, strangely, the bottom of a child’s shoe. The child stepped right on my chest and I was transported onto his shoe. From there, I had a great view of all the surrounding houses all made of deep orange bricks. Sadly, I didn’t have time to say farewell to my good friends in the puddle. I wasn’t that worried though, because I knew I was in for the adventure of a lifetime…

Down the road I continued, on the child’s shoe, past dozens of other raindrops falling around me, splashing to the ground in a wake of pleasure and enjoyment that I vividly remember from my first few days as a raindrop; after being evaporated up from the sea. “Good luck!” I shouted.

The young boy carried on down the road until he reached a house-just like the others- with a white door and a brass knocker that read, 113. He rapped on the door using his fist; he was too short to reach the knocker. After a few seconds, a face full of delight opened the door and the boy stepped inside. He immediately took off his shoes and put them outside.

In the distance, I saw a vague figure bounding towards me… a dog! I panicked! – I couldn’t stop myself. Was I really going to be licked up by some horrid, mangy animal? It turned out I wasn’t. He merely picked up the shoe and I was carried to the bottom of the garden where the sun beamed strongly down on me till it hurt! I swear back then I felt a shrinking sensation charge through me. After what seemed like hours of this intensive torture, I finally evaporated and drifted up   to join my other pals up in the clouds to condense. A shiver ran through me as I levitated higher and higher into the sky. It was much colder up here than down in that cruel place the ground-dwellers call home.

Soon enough, I was back in the fluffy, wet cotton balls ready to start an adventure all over again.

A Raindrop’s Adventure

I remember the first time I saw the sky at the start of my adventure. I knew I only had a certain amount of time before my long journey, that every raindrop goes through.

Suddenly, I felt like I was flying and as I travelled up with my friends, I saw it was true, I really was moving! Some of the older raindrops told us that none of the humans could see us and that we were evaporating!

After a while, we slowed down and formed a big fluffy blob. We spent a while being blown around by the wind but we got cold so when hovering over a mountain, we decided to come down again.

Eventually, we hit he ground and flowed into a river. Our river got faster and faster until we had so much power we could pick up rocks and twigs. It was so much fun running down the stream with my friends but after a long while we saw our destination – The Sea! As we came to the sea I felt the salt rushing into me. It was the greatest adventure of my life.

But one day I felt myself flying towards the sky again. However, this time I knew where we were going. Our adventure was starting again!
