Wow!! What an amazing day!
We were lucky enough to have eight Chinese students with their tutors visit us. They spent the day teaching and providing activities related to China. Y6J, Y5/6C, Y5P and Y2F did activities such as Chinese calligraphy, Making Chinese tea, Chinese Knot tying, Chinese games, dance, paper cutting, studying the Chinese New Year and learning about Taiwan.
We really enjoyed the day and look forward to learning more about China.

Chinese Tangrams
Year 5 & 6 are studying China this term.
Today Y5/6C explored Tangrams. A Tangram is an ancient Chinese puzzle. It is sometimes called "seven pieces of cleverness." The object of the puzzle is to rearrange the pieces of a square (the puzzle pieces) to form figures.

Inspiring Ideas
Visiting classes today I was excited by all the inspiring ideas children were creating in class discussion. Y6J, Y5P and Y2S were all exploring strange worlds to help them come up with their ideas; Y6J were writing detailed instructions to operate a mysterious device; Y5P were exporing and describing a strange room and Y2S were describing weird ball-like objects on a colourful cliff face.
I hope some children can e-mail their writing so that I can publish it on this Blog!

Mrs Bell's Successful Learners!!
I was invited into Mrs. Bell's class this afternoon. They had just chosen a new part of their Successful Learner Jigsaw to focus on this term -
Knowing how to improve their work. We talked about different ways in which the children can improve their writing. I'm looking forward to reading the Big Writes they will be writing tomorrow - and seeing how they can improve by the next Big Write in two weeks time.
