Making strange animals
The Middle Primary have been learning about animals and their habitats. This week they have been researching and creating interesting animals on a website called switchzoo.com. As homework over the half term break they have been asked to research animals and their habitats. There is plenty on information about it on the woodlands-school website. The children also need to create their own made up animal. If they, or any of you, want to create a strange animal like the 'zeb-ger-dog-nocerous' in the picture above then just have a go on switchzoo.com.

Improving our Writing in year 1.

Today children in year 1 have been writing about chicks. They have thought carefully about their writing. The children then read through their work to look for any mistakes. The children thought carefully about making their work better. I was so impressed with all of the children's independent work that I showed it all to Mr Condon.
Well done year 1!

Water Walk 2010 - 8th July

This morning we will be holding a special assembly launching a new project supporting the charity ‘for-ethiopia’. During Christmas of last year, Jack and Ben Underhill visited the village of Addis Alem with their family. This is the community which St. Joseph’s has supported over the years through a range of fund raising activities, including the famous Water Walks! In this assembly Jack and Ben will present an amazing film they made during their visit and we will talk about plans for the future, which include learning partnerships and Water Walk 2010! Please come and join us and learn about our plans and this fascinating country. For parents who are unable to attend the morning’s assembly, the film will also be shown this afternoon at 3pm.
Little Chick Diary
It was Class Y3/4J's turn this afternoon to have the newly hatched chicks. Everyone was very excited and decided to write or draw descriptions about them in their science books. Abigayle wrote a diary entry. I think it's fabulous!:
My Chick Diary
Wednesday 12th May: it is my first day alive. I am loving life!
Thursday morning: I had a late night because I was cracking lots of
shells with my beak. Lots of children saw me.
Friday: I heard lots of people singing.
Saturday, Sunday: We were lonely.
Monday, Tuesday: I got flight feathers
Wednesday, Thursday: Went into classes; was curious
Friday: going to leave St Joe's
Well done, Abby.
