Year Six VE Party

To finish our topic on World War Two, we have had a VE party this afternoon. We made party food from wartime recipes and brought in spam, cheese and jam sandwiches and biscuits. We played traditional games and even tried our hand at dancing!

locating local amenities on a map

Y5C continued their learning on amenities in the local area by finding amenities on a map. We used google maps & street view to locate the amenities and then matched it to our map. We also made up our own keys.

Amenities in the local area

Y5C have been taking photos of amenities in the local area without leaving the classroom! As part of their 'no place like home' project the class have been using street view on google maps to find local amenities. How many can you recognise?

Raising money for Shelter

Y5C are raising money for Shelter (The housing and homeless charity).

http://england.shelter.org.uk/

As part of our project 'There's no place like home'  we have thought about ways to raise money.  We have decided to sell Yoyos, bouncy balls, planes and puzzle snakes with all the profit going to the charity.  These items are being sold at playtimes in class Y5C.

Here are some posters we produced to advertise these product.

Enjoy reading some of our efforts.

Karl was trapped by slimy aliens. They took gigantic steps towards him. There was no way out now.
Slowly, he pointed his gun at the aliens, trying to pluck up the courage to kill them. It was now
or never... Suddenly, the Tv screen went blank.Oh no!

DT making future houses

Today Y5C enjoyed designing and making future houses as part of our 'There's no place like home' project.  We began by thinking about future problems which may impact future design, such as rising sea levels and population increase.  The class learnt lots about designing and construction.  Throughout the day, the children displayed excellent team work and creative thinking.
