Happy birthday to the RNLI

Happy birthday to the RNLI (The Royal National Lifeboat Institution) who this week are celebrating 190 years of lifesaving at sea.  Y5C have been studying the RNLI as part of their 'Heroes topic'.  The class will be raising money for the charity this term.

The children have enjoyed reading and undertaking the tasks in the RNLI All Aboard magazine.

We have used map skills to locate some of the RNLI lifeboat stations

Bleep test

On Friday Y5C undertook a bleep test during their PE lesson.  We have been studying real life heroes -the emergency services and found out they need to pass a bleep test to ensure they are fit enough for the job.  It was hard work but a lot of fun trying it.

Real life heroes - The emergency services

Y5C have been thinking about real life heroes and in particular the emergency services.

'I think the emergency services should be considered as heroes because they risk their lives to save other people'  By Talia
