Maths frog investigation

Year 5 and 6 have recently been undertaking lots of maths investigations. This one involves two families of frogs who wish to swap sides to the other side of the pond.

  • There are 7 lily pads which the frogs must use to cross the pond.
  • Frogs can only jump to empty lily pads.
  • Frogs can only jump over one other frog at a time.
  • Frogs don't know how to jump backwards!
Many of the children were able to find the answer to the investigation. However it became alot harder to record how they achieved it and demonstrate their answer to someone else. The children used coloured cubes, or wore PE bibs pretending to be the frogs to help solve the problem.
