Pupils at a Catholic primary school in Fishponds have been praised by the education watchdog Ofsted for their excellent behaviour.
Inspectors said St Joseph’s was a satisfactory and improving school where children showed care courtesy and support to one another. They noted significant improvements in maths and an improving trend in other subjects.
The report said “The leadership team are successfully creating an exciting learning environment and there is good evidence that this is beginning to have a satisfactory effect, particularly on the achievement of boys.”.
Headteacher Matt Condon said he was pleased Ofsted had recognised the work the school was doing to improve the learning for its 269 pupils.
“We have found that children are enjoying learning more because they are learning more through visits, special projects, new after school clubs and exciting topics as well as having their success celebrated in school and on the school blog. Children are now taking more responsibility for their learning and say they really enjoy coming to school.”
“This is a great foundation to build on to achieve greater success in the future. We will continue to work together to ensure all aspects of the school improve.”
