Maths - Counting grains of sand!!

Today a Year 5 maths group was given the challenge of trying to work out how many grains of sand there are on a teaspoon. They were asked to use their maths skills to help work out the answer. Some groups decided to spread the teaspoon of sand onto graph paper, they then counted how many grains were in one small square and multiplied this by the number of squares it covered. Some excellent work, well done!
