Japan and robots
Y4C looked at Japan and their fascination with robots. The Japanese love robots and lead the world in robotics production and use. They even have giant robots which are huge tourist attractions. Check out the 360 degree view of one of the giant robots by clicking here.
'I think they built the robots because they like the future and are forward thinking,' said Joseph
Music Machine
Before the holiday Y4C created music machines. Inspired by robots and machines, the children worked in groups with limited instruments to device their own rhyme.

E-safety Week
The whole school is learning about e-safety this week. The children are learning about issues such as cyber-bulling, unwanted communications and protecting personal information. Parents can get more information about e-saftey from the CEOP website. If you are KS2 and would like to play some e-safety games, click on the cybercafe link below. KS1 children can watch Hecter's World cartoons to help learn about staying safe on the internet.

Chinese Dragon
Chinese New Year
JJ has done piece of work she would like to share on the blog. Here it is:
Last week it was Chinese New Year, and it is now the year of the rabbit.
This is a story about this special time:
A long time ago in ancient
China, there was a monster named Nian; he woke
up once a year to damage the
villages. People had to abandon their houses and
hide as Chinese New Year's
Eve came closer.
On the day that the monster would wake up, a wise man
told the villagers to
hang red paper on their doors and let off all their
firecrackers. Before long,
the monster came to the village it became scared
of the loud noises from the
firecrackers and the red paper hurt its eyes. It
turned away never to come back
again.
These are some pictures of

Robot Tales in Year 4
Sing Up Day
We are now a Gold Award school!
Here we are on the Sing Up map.
To celebrate we are singing in different languages or in parts throughout the school; the Head will sing at lunchtime; the YR class are sharing songs with our neighbouring preschool and the choir are visiting our local Special School. Also we shall have a whole school singing assembly. Finally our Y5 and 6s who will be on camp in the Forest of Dean will join in through singing activities of their own whether potholing or abseiling at the same time! This is all in anticipation of the following week when we will actually be handed over our Gold Award by Laurie Gethin our endorser, and fantastic Area Leader! We are all truely excited!

Isle of tune
In Y5P (and with some Y6B) the class have been creating some very interesting sound islands using a website called Isle of Tune. They started by building a road and then houses, trees, flowers and finally a car. As the car drives past different objects it creates different tunes. The children have been experimenting with different tunes and some children were challenged to see if they could be made to sound spooky. Here are some examples:

Robot Art
Y4C have been creating robot art as part of their project 'The rise of the robots'. We began by making studies of the art movement futurism and robots in art. We then created some robot art of our own using oil pastels.
Evacuees play
Today Year 6 gave a fantastic WW2 presentation, during which a small group preformed 'The evacuees play' by Carolyn Sloan. Here is a section of their play.
World War 2 Topic Presentation
Last term Year 6 learnt all about the Second World War. In this great presentation the children told us how through learning about history they produced a wide range of different writing (great diary writing, descriptive writing, poetry), made gas mask boxes, looked at maps of wartime Europe and used ICT really well to present their ideas. I loved the way which they were able to empathise with how people lived at this difficult time. Well done Year 6!
