It's a mystery!

Year Six have been writing the beginnings of mystery stories and demonstrating how creative their imaginations can be.  Here are a couple of extracts:

Ali stood silently, looking at the door.  With a slow creaking sound, it opened.  Taking a deep breath, Ali walked inside.  Behind the old, crooked door was ...

an old, abandoned mansion.  Every step she took, the old house moaned and groaned with her.  Ali turned around and, just as she did, the door shut.  BANG! She ran as fast as she could to the door and tried the handle.  It wouldn't budge! Now she was on a mission... a mission to get home!
As she walked along the broken floor boards, she thought to herself, "Why? Why do the bad things always happen to me?" Just then, she came to an almighty halt.  Broken glass was shattered and spread out all over the room.  A single beam of moonlight filled the gloomy living room and was beautiful as the glass shimmering in the light.  She walked around the shards.  Every step she took, she felt like someone was following her.

He found himself standing in the footsteps of paradise!  He never expected the land lurking behind the wooden door would be this glorious and beautiful.  Curiosity had entered him and he decided to move on.
As Ali was walking through the wondrous place, he saw the bright sun glimmering above the land; the trees, green as ever, standing tall and proud; the birds singing a lovely tune and the breeze dancing around him.  Until...
The darkness killed the light.  The smooth path started to transform into a rocky and rough path. Mountains, as giants, rose up and fiery flames smothered the hillside.
